I am a First Sergeant.
My job is people—Everyone is my Business.

Their health, morale, discipline and welfare.
I grow in strength

Prayer of a First Sergeant
Lord, give me strength this day to deal with one more troubled Airman, one more stubborn NCO, one more uncooperative SNCO, one more family in crisis, one more DUI, one more suicide attempt, one more sleepless night, one more deployment, one more short notice TDY, one more futile meeting…
Give me the wisdom to deal with my people in a professional, courteous, caring manner, giving them my full attention, knowing I have a thousand other things needing my immediate attention.
Give me the knowledge to make the appropriate referral, the knowledge to know when I just can’t help them anymore.
And Lord, let me not forget my family, loved ones, and friends as it is their love which sustains me, their sacrifices which allow me to do what I am called to do.
Help me to recognize the good in all people, and not focus on just the bad I see daily.
Keep me motivated, Lord, to follow in your Son’s footsteps, and minister to my small congregation, their smiles and heartfelt words of thanks all I need in payment for my labor.
And Lord, should my strength falter, I will always look to you and my fellow first sergeants for more.
