What drives you to prayer? Feeling ungrateful. Like I received a great present on Christmas and didnt show the proper gratification. Whenever I think of my success with my life and my family I stop and give thanks and ask for forgiveness.

What keeps you from prayer? Time. Busy schedule. Being ungrateful.

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Yes. I think giving thanks and praise is important in the good and bad times, not just the bad.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? Not enough! I usually pray in the car on my way into work. I pray over my family and for any events that day. I pray at most meals and sometimes in the evening while spending time in the word or a book.

What drives you to prayer? Unfortunately, usually my own needs drive me to prayer. But a lot of times I driven to prayer to give God praise and communicate with him. What keeps you from prayer? The feeling that most of the time it feels like a one-way conversation. Busy schedules.

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Yes! I need to do it more often! Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? I pray every day, although how much varies. I pray at least 15 minutes.

What drives you to prayer? I pray out of the desire to teach my children that Christ is true and real and that He cares for their every need. At times I am driven by an overwhelming need to intercede on someone's behalf. Honestly, although I teach others to lay their cares at the feet of Jesus and pray with them, I rarely take my own problems to the Lord. Hypocritical? Yes. I find it easier to prayer for others than to face my own weaknesses and shortcomings.

What keeps you from prayer? Anything. I'm easily distracted. Always have been. Doing laundry, washing dishes (although I do pray often while washing dishes). Honestly, the one thing that keeps me from praying is the knowledge that once I get alone with God and truly commune with Him, I will be asked to be more than I am. He will show me where I am NOT fulfilling His purpose in my life and then, I cannot say, I didn't know. Although, let's be real, just telling you this, says that I already know I'm not living the victorious Christian life He has called me to and need to be slapped upside the head and told to get right!!

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? I know prayer is important to my Christian faith. I know from experience, that prayer changes lives, changes hearts. I know that as those who are called to bring in the lost and hurting, and to minister to His people, we have no power on our own, but as we pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us and empower us, not only will our lives be changed, but those around us will be affected for the Kingdom. It is quite selfish to not pray. I am not only missing out on MY blessings when I refuse to be self disciplined and pray, but I am also impacting those around me.

That’s it, pretty painless eh? No, quite painful really. I have allowed rejection and disappointed to dictate my Christian walk. I know the calling the Lord has placed on my life and refuse to walk in it because I'm tired of being disappointed. Never by my Savior, only by man. I need to commit to pray and a new hunger for more of Him. Will I? Only time will tell.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? I usually spend about 5 minutes and I do little prayers throughout the day. Most of the time I speak to him like he's sitting across the table from me.

What drives you to prayer? I normally pray before I go to bed with something bad happens or when I praise him for something good happening. I also say a prayer when I notice I'm upset or if I feel like I want to say or do something I know isn't christ like (beforehand) to stop myself from doing it. But if I've already done it and I realize it was bad I'll ask for forgiveness in a prayer.

What keeps you from prayer? Being busy or extremely tired or is just sooo upset at that time I don't even care. I haven't been mad like that for a while though.

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? I do I think it is the most important. I feel like God always hears my prayers and most of the time he answers them and if not he shows me why it wasn't his will.

>1 – time spent praying daily – not as much as I would like, I would say probably around two hours on and off throughout my day, and then for a while when I wake up and before I go to sleep

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Of Course

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? - It is hard to estimate. In quiet prayer that is focused, I probably spend 15 minutes a day. However, I converse with God in prayer all throughout my day as I am doing other things, such as cleaning house, taking care of the kids, driving, etc. I probably spend hours talking to God every day.

What drives you to prayer? - I love fellowship with God because I never feel lonely, and whenever I speak to him, I feel as though he is listening whether I am telling him about my day, my kids, my husband, a friend who needs prayer, or a question I want answered. I let the Holy Spirit guide me to intercessory prayer, and during that time, I feel a strong burden for someone or something and I pray to God in a bold and focused manner, often doing spiritual warfare during that time. I will be honest that the times I have fasted and prayed were completely intercessory.

What keeps you from prayer? - Sometimes the busyness of daily commitments to my family, husband and children keep me from focused times of prayer, but this is why I converse with God all day long. I don't want our relationship to become stale. I think of God as how I would think of my marriage, if I don't speak to my husband day after day, we are not going to have much of a relationship. I make a point to talk to God every day. I don't think there is much that can keep me from that!

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? -Absolutely. I think prayer is essential to a relationship with God and our Lord Jesus! I know the living Word is a great way to learn ABOUT God and have him reveal himself to us, but without speaking to God, it just doesn't seem like we would know God very well. The same idea about marriage applies in that, if I just observed and learned about my husband from watching, I would know about him....but I have to talk to him and interact with him to really KNOW him and have a meaningful relationship with him.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? In a secluded place where that is a focus, not very much - 5-10min before bed. But throughout the day as things come up just talking to the Lord - on and off all day.

What drives you to prayer? Whatever is in front of me that leads me to bring it before the Lord Prayer lists

What keeps you from prayer? Business, wrong thinking-it has to be drawn out or take a lot of time or done in a certain way

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Communicating with God is vital for understanding his word, his will and his way as well as knowing his loving and staying filled with power and perseverance.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? As much as I can.

What drives you to prayer? Faith and sometimes frustration.

What keeps you from prayer? Forgetfulness and lack of time.

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Extremely!!! Its what keeps you in a codependent relationship with God.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? I have a prayer list I do every night that takes about 10 minutes, plus I pray in the Spirit and in my known language all throughout the day.

What drives you to prayer? Knowing its importance from reading the Word, and the Holy Spirit

What keeps you from prayer? Sometimes being busy throughout the day, and "not having time"

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? I feel prayer is Very important because its how we communicate with our God.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? When I get up in the morning, in the afternoon at lunch, on the way home from work, etc., pretty much on and off all day

What drives you to prayer? When I see a need, the members of the body, compassion for souls, lost loved ones, etc.

What keeps you from prayer? distraction, busyness, fatigue

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Critically

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? Most days my prayer time consists of praying during the motions of my day, rather than time in solitude and quiet. I'd say this prayer in motion type of prayer accounts for about 10 minutes each day. (pretty sad)

What drives you to prayer? Usually not having anything else to do (like on a bike ride) or feeling a sense of neediness. Often a thought of a friend's needs leads me to prayer.

What keeps you from prayer? Laziness. Knowing that it requires a sacrifice of time for myself. Interestingly, I have never regretted the time I spent in prayer, yet I so rarely spend real time there.

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? It is the key, I feel. The first Christians had scripture knowledge, fellowship and prayer. They didn't have music on hand, sermons online, books, conferences, etc, they had each other and prayer. So ironically, it is odd that I don't spend more time in prayer, because I say I believe it is key. Maybe what we really believe is exhibited by what we do and not what we say.

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? About an hour

What drives you to prayer? Wanting to see Him move

What keeps you from prayer? Being distracted by this world (Lack of discipline)

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? That is like asking if communication is important to a relationship. YES

>Christian, how much time do you spend per day in prayer? It will vary but I like to spend an hour in prayer and than have little prayers throughout the day.

What drives you to prayer? The needs of others and of course myself. I would not be able to live in this world without the power of prayer. It is our way of communicating with God. He knows the very thought of our hearts and minds but he told us to ask that we might receive. He wants to hear from us!

What keeps you from prayer? I pray everyday! But if there was one thing that would be a hinderous it would be the busyness of life. We have to make God our number one priority!

Do you feel prayer is important to your Christian faith? Absolutely, it is what moves the hand of God in our behalf and in behalf of the nations and our families!

I pray that you were all challenged by the responses and that we all use it to encourage us to spend more time in prayer. Without a doubt genuine godly prayer will set us apart from all other people! Let's commit to prayer as we never have before. LRB
